Random Photo of the Day - 10.28.2010

A drink I was sharing with my girlfriend at a hockey game my brother and his wife took us to. I don't drink too much soda. Kidney stones can cause major kidney bankruptcy.

Haha, sorry. Couldn't resist.

  1. Careful, you don't want to chapter 7 your kids (kidneys, not the best abbreviation, I know) right now.

I never understood what the purpose was of those little nubs indicating what drink you have? Is it for blind workers? Blind drinkers? Blind Melon?

Also, at a quick glance, I thought you had jammed a carrot in your drink.

  3. WAIT, I've had kidney stones 3 times in my life, and I am 24 years old. I don't drink soda, so...after the 3rd stone I started to drink it and now it is 3 years without stone problems...some say Coca cola is so strong it smashes the stones! LOL

  5. Man, as much as I drink soda and other sugary drinks, you'd think my kidneys would be lining up for Chapter 11 by now.

    Lol.

Cool shots. I love photos with one area of focus and the rest a blur.

  11. Hahaha, you mofos are funny.

@Rorschach - I don't know what's up with those little things either. I've always pushed them all in (I did shortly after taking these pictures). So to me, they were always a little toy when you got a drink. Kind of like a happy meal, but just a happy drink. And I quite liked the kidney abbreviation. I hope you don't mind me actually using that from now on.

@Ishu - I've had over 20 stones. I've had so many tests on them and on me it's not even funny. There was never any evidence what caused the stone. I've heard I had too much calcium in my system, drank too many sodas, ate too much cheese, the list goes on. I haven't changed my diet at all (except cut down on sodas) and I hardly get them anymore. The last 2 or 3 passed with ease (even almost unnoticed). I also read an article that drinking diet 7 Up once a week can help reduce the chances of getting one. But, who knows....

@ MRanthrope - Diet Dr. Pepper, I think.

@amidoinitrite? - It was either my girlfriend's camera I bought her (a Sony DSC-T77) for Christmas or mine (a shitty older Sony Cybershot). I love using the macro and magnifying settings. I've always been obsessed with them. Probably because I've always liked taking pictures of small things like insects, kidney stones, wounds....

  12. Tabs are there because so many sodas are brown and someone (like me) who hates root beer wouldn't want to taste that nasty shit by accident because someone else in the group got one.

Ohh and I hope you got some tacos or something to go with that soda.
