Neglect, Catching Up, Bugs & Birthdays

video

Is that video sideways? Is the color off? At the time of uploading I can't tell. If so, that just adds to the "specialness" of it.

I've neglected this little blog. I haven't completely gone away, I've just been a bit busier (with what, I'm not sure - I have been growing quite a nice beard). I hope all of you are doing well and having a nice day. Have I mentioned I have three more kidney stones inside me? I do! As soon as I pass one I'll post pictures of it/them. Anyway, this will serve as somewhat of a catch-up post.

(every time I came across an article from USA Today on my Fluent News
app I'd run into these headline/picture combo errors)

No, Applebee's! NOOOOOOOO!

"....and this is the man responsible."

F*ck you, IHOP!
A fly eating the remnants of a sweet potato. His live was forever changed.
That's all for now, as I can't seem to find a batch of my most recent photos. But I can assure you
they're either random, contain animals, or both!

I also want to take this space up by wishing a Happy Birthday to my dear childhood friend, Jacob. Childhood friend sounds weird. I've known him since the 6th grade. Our friendship was sparked from the seed of pre-algebra and grew in the lunchroom. That's that. Anything else more personal I can save for an email or late night Ambien-induced text message.

Happy Birthday, Jacob.

Animal of the Day - 11.13.2011

This is a wasp I found in my hallway. It seemed to be dying, so before I went downstairs and deposited it in some bushes I took some pictures of it.

Also, my wonderful sister-in-law sent me another French Bulldog video. So here it is.

Animal of the Day - 10.28.2011

Here are two dogs I saw at a stop light. I couldn't get my camera app ready in time when the other one was looking at me, but it wasn't nearly as cool as the other one anyway.

This picture was actually going to be a "bonus" picture to another one I had planned for this post but I accidentally deleted it from my phone. When I get it again I'll make another post, which it deserves.

So for the bonus today I'll include this nice video from Battles for their song Ice Cream.

Dancing Gangsta Bear

I usually don't like posting videos, especially ones I didn't shoot. But this makes me happy.

Make sure the sound is on.

Animal of the Day - 10.10.2011

This is a spider I found a few weeks ago. I took the pictures a few weeks ago, too. I haven't let it hang around this long.
It was in a corner showing off a bug that it caught. I eventually moved it outside so it wouldn't get sucked up in the vacuum or swept away by the mop.

Random Photo of the Day - 8.25.2011

The photos above are some green tea (matcha) cupcakes I made a few days ago. They were very good.

Below is a rainbow brownie I made last week. Tomorrow I will be making Nutella filled cupcakes with a Nutella buttercream frosting. And no, this isn't becoming a cooking blog. I'm far too anal to make things more than once a week. I tend to have meltdowns if I make a mess, which always results in me cleaning the apartment for hours and taking over 5 showers. That's actually why the rainbow brownies got messed up (and you're only seeing a picture of a rainbow brownie, not the rainbow brownies) - after cleaning up the mess I needed to take a shower, so I did. As a result I left them in the oven for too long.

I apologize for the bad picture, all I had around was my iPhone.
I also apologize for the annoying rainbow text. I couldn't help it.

For those who are interested, the recipes are after the jump.

Random Photo of the Day - 8.13.2011

This is a homeless guy-tarist (does that work?) I came across while in New York while waiting on a subway platform. He had a sign with him, too, which you can see below.

Also, because I think homeless people are presents, Happy Birthday to my brother.

Animal of the Day - 8.11.2011

Here's a standard poodle sniffing some ass. I took this while in New York a few years ago. It's the same poodle as seen in this picture (also the same ass).

Random Photos of the Day - 8.09.2011

1 - A vegan spring roll
2 - a flower
3 - a dead bug (in his paper casket I made for him)
4 - a chair leg

It seems that in my absence my little blog has had some technical problems. I'll work (slowly and lazily) on fixing them.

Animal of the Day - 5.12.2011

I very rarely post pictures that I didn't take myself, but French bulldogs are always an exception. This is Otto, a French bulldog (via cuteoverload.com). This was sent to me, as is all of my Frenchie fixes, by my awesome sister-in-law.

Also I'd like to take this time to apologize for not updating as much or visiting any of your blogs. It's not intentional. I'm having such massive computer problems it's not even funny. My Macbook is dead and my PC is also dying (I'm posting this from my girlfriend's laptop). I'm also in the process of helping my girlfriend move so things are a bit hectic. So please bear with me while I get things sorted and I will continue to post things and visit your blogs as often as I can.

Oh and my trip to the zoo was good, but unfortunately 90% of the pictures I took turned out crap because of my camera.

brb going to the zoo

Ever since my Macbook Pro died I've been putting off going through my external hard drive to find more sets of pictures to post. It's quite upsetting. Although I can't blame it completely on my procrastination, I have been quite ill. Hopefully things will get better this week.

I'm sure some of you have already seen this, but I had to share anyway. Reminds me of the movie Jesus Camp.

Animal of the Day - 5.3.2011

This is a Plume moth - thanks goes to Lost.in.Idaho for identifying this creature.
I saw this little insect Plume moth on a nearby gate a while back. I've never seen this type of insect a Plume moth before so I decided I should get my camera and take pictures of it. ___ points awarded to anyone who figures out what this is (because I'm hurting too much and too tired to take time to find out myself).

My Macbook Pro also stopped working recently. Unfortunately I hadn't backed it up in a very, very long time. So a large majority of my pictures, music, documents, etc will be forever gone. Not too happy about that as I'm having to do everything on my crappy PC now. Plus it just sucks that my wonderful little Macbook Pro is dead.

Macbook Pro Update: After trying every solution I could find online (including taking my it apart and cleaning/dusting every moving part and making sure everything was firmly attached) I decided to try the oldest, and usually most successful, fix - hitting it. I gave it a good hard whack on the outside of the case where the hard drive is located, pressed the power button, and voila - it successfully booted up. I'm now in the process of backing everything up (only 15 minutes left). Once the backup is complete I will then taunt it.

Update #2:  No luck :(

Focus On: Lola

Lola is a 2 year old pit bull terrier who was featured as a previous Animal of the Day. As many of you know I love animals, and I'm very partial to certain species/breeds of animals. In this case it's dogs/pit bull terriers. I'm sure some of you may already have a negative image of pit bulls because of something you've seen or heard on the news. But anyone who has ever been around a pit bull, owned one, or knows dogs knows that it's just a stereotype. I've personally come across more angry and mean lap dogs than I have any pit bulls. Those little bastards are lucky they're small, otherwise they'd be at the wrong end of a dangerous stereotype.

But I digress, this is all about Lola. I spent a little over an hour this afternoon with Lola and it was the most fun I've had all week. She was funny, energetic, and very nice. I've actually been trying to plan this "play date" with Lola for months, so I'm glad it finally came to be. Thanks go to my mother and Monique.
