Random Photo of the Day - 2.28.2011

One of my favorite foods, tofu sushi (or inari - named after the Shinto god who is believed to have a fondness for fried tofu). It's a pouch of fried tofu filled with sushi rice and sesame seeds. It looks like something you'd find on the ground at your local park, but it tastes so good.

  3. It looks...like a rock. You'd be better off with camel meat. After all, THEY know what YOU taste like...
What the hell is that green blob in the back? Are you eating Play Doh again?

  8. inari is too simple for me. I love sashimi and any sushi that's spicy, mmmmmm. Damnit now I'm hungry as hell.

  9. @Rorschach - It does look like a rock. I think if a camel ate a rock to help digest the thumb of someone it ate then pooped it out, this is what it would look like. The green glob in the back is wasabi. Although you do get points for the Play Doh comment since a few weeks ago I took a good sniff of some Play Doh and ate a little bit just for a feel of being a kid again.

@G, Natália, thenitefalls - I love you all.

As Con Queso said, it really is very simple. I think I love it so much because when I lived in a smaller town all I had in terms of sushi was cucumber or vegetable rolls. Those get old VERY fast. My girlfriend and I went to a restaurant called Nobu for our anniversary last year and they had TONS of tofu dishes, including tofu sashimi. It was ok. But best they had was a tofu vanilla mousse.

  10. I LOVE inari, and yet no one ever has any clue what it is. And then when I order it, they love it too.

I kinda want this now. And the missus and I are going to a movie tomorrow, near the place that makes the best inari. Alright, you twisted my arm. I'm going.
