Focus On: Lola

Lola is a 2 year old pit bull terrier who was featured as a previous Animal of the Day. As many of you know I love animals, and I'm very partial to certain species/breeds of animals. In this case it's dogs/pit bull terriers. I'm sure some of you may already have a negative image of pit bulls because of something you've seen or heard on the news. But anyone who has ever been around a pit bull, owned one, or knows dogs knows that it's just a stereotype. I've personally come across more angry and mean lap dogs than I have any pit bulls. Those little bastards are lucky they're small, otherwise they'd be at the wrong end of a dangerous stereotype.

But I digress, this is all about Lola. I spent a little over an hour this afternoon with Lola and it was the most fun I've had all week. She was funny, energetic, and very nice. I've actually been trying to plan this "play date" with Lola for months, so I'm glad it finally came to be. Thanks go to my mother and Monique.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. Any time my family is all together for Easter we still continue the tradition of dying Easter eggs. When I was younger I'd do stupid little shapes, then moved on to Batman or Ninja Turtle eggs, then as I got older I would create more "artsy" looking eggs. However it's still fun to throw in a perverse or inappropriate egg. Which is why I'm sharing this little guy I created years ago. The story behind this egg was that it was murdered.

That's it. It was shot in the head. Maybe by an egg substitute.

Later that evening Polly (who belongs to my brother and his wife) carried on her tradition of picking out her own egg, carrying it around in her mouth for a while, then eating it.

Random Photo of the Day - 4.21.2011

Sorry for the lack of updates/visits/emails/everything else. I've been dealing with kidney problems.

These pictures were part of a set I was making that showed the stages of growing an avocado seed plant. The seed ended up splitting in half so I scrapped the idea. Maybe some other time. Luckily there were a few pictures worth saving.

My Orchid - Part 4

So it's finally done. The last little orchid bud finally opened up (a day and a half ago). It's been fun watching this orchid grow the way it has. I can't believe I've kept it alive for over a year and it's turned into this. I guess that's the way it says thanks.

For those who might be interested, here are parts one, two, and three

And here's another bonus picture for everyone. It's a roasted tomato and artichoke soup I ate at a Kent Rathbun restaurant when celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. Best soup I've ever had. The crouton has goat cheese spread on top of it.

Animal of the Day - 4.8.2011

I saw this little inchworm bungee jumping (silk strand jumping?) from a car port last night. It was blowing around in the wind like crazy. Unfortunately it fell down before I could get a picture of it in the air, so I got these instead. After a while of watching it walk around I got a leaf for it to crawl on (so I could transport it to safety), once it got on the leaf it just relaxed and stayed there for a while.

Random Photo of the Day - 4.6.2011

Technically this should be titled "Random Photos of the Day." But I'm sure no one will mind. The first two are just some random lights. The first was lighting used in the elevator at my girlfriend's old office building, the second is from a hotel (I think in Italy). The last two are of two of my plants given to me by my sister-in-law.

I've been lazy with posts this week, all because I'm suffering through another kidney stone. So this is kidney stone #23-25 (not sure anymore).

Speaking of my sister-in-law, here's a bonus video for all you she sent me. Kind of a funny video until you realize the cat is doing that because it's in heat, then you just feel weird for watching it. It also reminds me of when Corey Feldman accidentally spills water on Gizmo.

Random Photo of the Day - 4.2.2011

Today is my girlfriend's birthday. So this is my blog version of telling her Happy Birthday (I promise I'm doing more than just posting some pictures for her on my blog, I got her real presents and stuff).

These pictures were taken in the town where we first met - La Spezia, Italy.

And because it's somewhat related to the other pictures, here's a bonus picture for you all. Some Euro-mullets I saw at the train station in the same town.

UPDATE - Turned out my (ex) girlfriend was a cheating whore. Apparently there are some judgmental conservative Christians out there who are hypocrites and liars. Go figure.

Inkblot of the Day (Friday)

I don't know what it is specifically, but I find this blot to be relaxing. But at the same time it also makes me feel like I'm being watched. But that's just me.

As always, feel free to leave your interpretations without hesitation or send them here (especially if you're awesome enough to actually draw what your dirty mind is seeing). No one around here is too judgmental.
