Random Photo of the Day - 4.6.2011

Technically this should be titled "Random Photos of the Day." But I'm sure no one will mind. The first two are just some random lights. The first was lighting used in the elevator at my girlfriend's old office building, the second is from a hotel (I think in Italy). The last two are of two of my plants given to me by my sister-in-law.

I've been lazy with posts this week, all because I'm suffering through another kidney stone. So this is kidney stone #23-25 (not sure anymore).

Speaking of my sister-in-law, here's a bonus video for all you she sent me. Kind of a funny video until you realize the cat is doing that because it's in heat, then you just feel weird for watching it. It also reminds me of when Corey Feldman accidentally spills water on Gizmo.

  2. HOW DO YOU HANDLE THOSE? ;_; i've never had one but i don't think i could survive having to pee out a pebble

you have a urethra of steel, and a commend you for it

  3. Surprisingly, Colin B, peeing them out isn't what hurts. I've actually never had any problems with them traveling their last leg through the urethra (except once, which was a fluke thing for me). The pain is when they're stuck in the ureter. Once they make their way to the bladder it's clear sailing, at least it has been for me. Of course there is some pain that stays with you for a while because of it getting in a fight with your insides.

  4. My mother gets kidney stones yearly. I really, REALLY hope I didn't get her genes on that one. I don't understand how you deal with it. That sounds so painful coming out of such a small hole...

Oh, and you get kudos for name dropping Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey. I still own and love that awful game.

  5. @ A Beer for the Shower - I LOVE YOU. I used to play with my friends all the time but they started hating it because they couldn't beat me. I was so obsessed with that game, I would play it for hours when I got home from school. I had great stats that I would constantly work on (I was mainly trying to beat all of the Gretzky record, got all of them but the assists) until one day my memory pack just died, everything was gone. Now when I play it I do so with anger and resentment.

  8. Ouch. Every time I hear about kidney stones, I'm reminded about that scene from Deadwood.

    I hope it passes quickly.

  9. :( I should read the stuff attached to videos.

Have you started a new planting off one of the 'leafs'?

And the long one - who knows what it is... all mine died :( Has yours expanded any?

  10. @Lena - That one picture is actually what came off of of the main plant. I didn't think it had a chance but I stuck it in the dirt anyway and it's grown several inches already. The long one stopped growing completely, I probably need a larger pot.

  11. @Bonjour Tristesse - I've yet to watch any of the Deadwood series. I've really been meaning to. Thank you for the reminder.

  17. I love photos of light in general and the first one in particular. But those kidney stones... 23 of them? Never thought people get as many. Do you know what causes them in your particular case?

  18. I didn't find that video cute at all. That cat was obviously having seizures and we all just sat and watched.

I remember reading (and seeing, ugh) your kidney stone posts. I guess there is no way you can romanticize that to make it somewhat more bearable.

Sorry, that was an awful set-up to poke fun at your malady. Hope things come to pass soon.

  20. Yeah, I think a larger pot is in order for the long one. Tera cotta pots are pretty cheap.
    Glad to see they're thriving!
